Connect to an SMB share
- Connect your iPhone to a network that can reach the NAS, and enable SMB file sharing on the NAS.
- Choose LAN files in SubtitleVideo and add an SMB connection.
- Enter the server address, share name and required account credentials. The port is usually 445; follow your NAS configuration.
- Allow iOS Local Network access, connect and browse to a video.
Generate and save to the video folder
- Open subtitle generation and choose a video from the LAN source.
- When recognition finishes, choose original text, translated text or both. Translation requires a supported language pair.
- Select the video folder as the save destination to write SRT files to the same share.
- The app asks before replacing existing subtitle files. If you lack write permission, save to Files on your iPhone instead.
How are subtitle files named?
For a video named lesson.mp4, the original file is lesson.srt and a Chinese translation may be lesson.zh-Hans.srt. These are separate files. Automatic subtitle loading and language detection depend on the player you use.
Troubleshoot a connection
Check the share name, account permissions, network reachability and iOS Local Network permission. Confirm that another file browser can access the share. Connecting, reading media and writing subtitles to the NAS require a network connection.
Which NAS devices can I use?
This workflow targets NAS devices and computer folders offering compatible SMB shares. Reading and writing depend on server configuration and account permissions. Compatibility does not imply a partnership or certification with a NAS brand.
