Enable live subtitles

  1. Open SubtitleVideo and choose Files, Photos or LAN files.
  2. In Settings, select the video's spoken language and your target translation language.
  3. Play the video, tap to reveal the controls, and select live subtitles from the subtitle menu.
  4. To compare the two languages, enable original subtitles in Settings. Adjust subtitle size and line count as needed.

Which languages are supported?

Recognition language options include Chinese, English, Japanese, Korean, French, German and Spanish. Availability also depends on your device, OS and installed system models. Recognition and translation have separate language support; the app checks whether your chosen translation pair is available.

Prepare for first use

Grant the requested speech and media permissions. Recognition models or translation language packs may need to be downloaded first. Live recognition on older OS versions may require a network connection. Background music, accents, speech speed and device performance affect subtitle accuracy and timing.

When is this useful?

Use it in the app for your anime episodes, original-language movies and NAS video collection. Live subtitles and translation help you follow dialogue during playback; use complete generation to keep subtitles for the entire episode or movie. Music, sound effects and overlapping dialogue can affect recognition, so check difficult passages against the original audio.

How much live subtitle time is free?

The current version includes 30 minutes of cumulative free live subtitle use, measured by actual usage. Pro removes this allowance limit. Full subtitle generation has a separate allowance; see Free & Pro for details.
